Finding the Right Curriculum for Your Sunday School?

We Believe   is our denominational curriculum created specifically for Presbyterians by Presbyterians. Through the seasons of the church year, We Believe examines Old and New Testament texts. The curriculum constructs lesson plans around biblical narratives pivotal to understanding the gospel as revealed to us through Jesus Christ.

We Believe focuses on our Reformed heritage. In age appropriate ways, content from our creeds, confessions, catechisms, and statements of faith are included in each age level.  These bear witness to our denomination's articulation of beliefs through the ages and the scriptural foundations of our faith statements.

Designed for all ages, grades K– 5, and grades 9–12 have a quarterly curriculum, while youth in grades 6–8 have four annual survey courses from which to choose in addition to Professing our Faith,  the new PC(USA) confirmation curriculum.  Young adults use a six-week Bible study series titled Real Faith, Real Life, with themes that are ideal for men and women in their twenties and thirties.  Adults have a quarterly resource that parallels the children's or older youth curricula in scope and sequence.

Point persons have been trained to help congregations find curriculum that meets their needs. The Congregational Ministry Division of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has organized a network of curriculum experts called POINT (Presbyterian Organized in Nurture and Training). Most Presbyteries have a Point person or two in their midst. The Presbytery of Susquehanna Valley is fortunate to have a Point person, Rev. Kristin Sundt, a Pastoral Assistant/Director of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church, Ithaca. Please feel free to contact her with any curriculum questions you may have.
